Another one I saw around five years ago, note the smaller tailfins.

They look beautiful.

Classic Skodas have always been something I never paid much attention to, then getting a Skoda, going through their history and then really looking at their old cars, I’ve really come to appreciate them more.

I like the white one with the smaller tailfins, it’s just a little more elegant.

I can’t be the only one who thinks they look like compressed P1800s, right?

That thought actually never occurred to me.

Interesting that cars behind the Iron Curtain were at one time (the 1950s) much more adventurous than they later became. Think of Trabant and Wartburg for example.

That was the time when they weren’t forced to build the same car for decades on end because the factory couldn’t afford the re-tooling, until the car eventually became the source of many jokes. They either couldn’t do pre-war designs anymore or didn’t have any so they started with a clean sheet.

Plus of course they could sell every car they made. No way was government going to agree to investment in that case. At one time you had to wait something like 14 years for a Trabi so why build a new model?
